# Frequently asked questions

Short answers about editing, styles, exports, agents, credits and privacy.

### Can I correct a word after captions are generated?

Yes. Select the caption screen, edit the incorrect word and replay the moment. The source media is unchanged.

### Can I change timing and caption breaks?

Yes. You can adjust word timing and split, merge or re-segment caption screens. Edits are version-checked so another tab or agent cannot silently overwrite newer work.

### Can I see the motion before exporting?

Yes. Create a short, low-resolution preview of the current project version. Previews are free and rate limited.

### What can I export?

The released service exports captioned MP4, transparent caption overlay, SRT and VTT. Availability and exact settings are shown in the export screen.

### When are credits used?

Editing, previews and subtitle-file exports do not consume render credits. A final paid video render shows a fixed quote first. Credits are reserved after approval, charged once on success and released on failure or cancellation.

### Can an AI agent use ClipSubtitles?

Yes. Connect an OAuth-capable MCP client to `https://api.clipsubtitles.com/api/mcp`. The agent can prepare a project and quote, but it must obtain explicit approval before starting a paid render.

### Do I need an API key?

No API key is required for the released MCP connection. Use browser OAuth and never paste passwords, codes or tokens into chat. REST clients use OAuth bearer tokens according to the OpenAPI contract.

### How long are my files kept?

Source media defaults to 30 days, final exports to 7 days and previews to 24 hours. Workspace owners can change source retention to 1–365 days and export retention to 1–90 days.

### What happens when I delete a project?

Its active tasks are cancelled and its source and export objects are removed immediately. The product does not provide an undo action.

### Can Kai refund a charge or restore credits?

No. Kai can collect safe details, but refunds, payment changes and credit adjustments require a human review. Never send card details or credentials.

### What should I do if I pasted a secret into support chat?

Revoke or rotate it immediately at the service that issued it. Do not paste it again. Tell support only what kind of secret it was and when it was exposed.
